How to create a table plan for your wedding / with Top Table Planner

You know, it's funny.  I can pretty much always guarantee that when I meet with a client a few months before their wedding in order to go through their schedule, the table plan will always come up in conversation.  Whether its because they cant decide who to seat with who or they cant get a table design they're happy with, it always seems to create headaches.  So the blog post idea of "How to create a table plan for your wedding" had been sitting in my to-do list for a while, until I came across a product from the guys at Top Table Planner, which prompted me to scrap writing one myself and instead tell you guys all about this product which I believe will be a lifesaver for many.

Launched in 2007, TopTablePlanner has helped arrange the seating at thousands of events in over 90 countries, from small office conferences to large wedding receptions and fundraisers. Instead of having to write guests' names on scraps of paper and move them around, TopTablePlanner lets you arrange your guests on-screen - saving both time and stress.

I immediately loved the lay out of the application, which works from within your web browser, so there's not software to download. I found it to be laid out really intuitively and so your design can be created with a few clicks and drags of the mouse and then tweaked to your hearts content until you get it just right.  Its not just the  guest tables that can be shown on the design too.  There is also the facility to lay out the dance floor, cake table and other elements within the design which I thought was another great little extra.

A particular feature I thought was exceptionally good was the fact that you could import guest names from an existing word or excel document.  With most couples these days creating a wedding folder that consists of a good few spreadsheets, this is another time saving feature which really stood out.

And it doesn't just stop at the layout, you can also add guest details like meal choices, which enables you to end up with a really comprehensive design.  When you're done, you can print and export the final design to your hearts content, keeping up to 5 different designs in your account, to play around with.

I would really recommend anyone planning a wedding to check out this app, as I really do think it could save some time.  What is more, it's absolutely free to try and just a small nominal charge for 6mths access, should you decide that you want to really take advantage of its power.
