Today I had the chance to sit down with the awesome Sam & Mark Waters from Cellar27, who are based in Suffolk, UK.
Ross: For those readers who may not have come across your business before, please can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into providing pop- up bars for weddings?
Cellar27: We both managed hotels in London and Suffolk for 10 years before starting Cellar 27 at the beginning of 2012. After getting married last year, we understand how much there is to organise and how many decisions there are to be made. It is for this reason we want to make organising your wedding bar as simple as possible. Our aim is to offer a premium bar service, with great drinks and a friendly, professional team.
Ross: In three words how would you describe your brand/business? Cellar27:
Cellar27: Quality, Stylish, Personal
Ross: Who or what inspires the creativity in what you do?
Cellar27: We are both passionate about great service and enjoy looking after people. You can have a fantastic product however, if the product is not complimented by great service then you will never have a successful business. We pride ourselves on providing a relaxed, friendly and professional service and often compare our style when we are eating out, shopping or just having a drink in a bar.
Ross: What trends are you currently seeing and how do you predict the future looks for wedding hospitality in the UK?
Cellar27: We think provenance is important to people. As a Suffolk business we are proud to serve local products including Calvors lager and Adnams bitters and spirits.
Ross: How far in advance do you suggest couples come talk to you about their wedding day?
Cellar27: The latest booking we have had so far was for a wedding has been just 20 days away! However, we don’t recommend leaving it so late! We have a range of bars and can accommodate up to 3 wedding bars a day. Saturdays continue to be the most popular day of the week and May-September the most popular months.
Ross: Which wedding blogs or magazines do you recommend that couples check out?
Cellar27: We really like Pinterest. This has loads of great pictures and ideas for many different wedding styles.
Ross: What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding bar service?
Cellar27: Do what you want, it’s your day. Enjoy the experience and have fun.
Ross: Finally, what's the best thing about doing what you do?
Cellar27: As a married couple with love working together. After working for a big corporate for so many years it is great to be in total control of our brand and offering. We know how important a couple’s wedding day is and it is always great to be apart of it.
