Suffolk Wedding & Event Dressing Specialists // 5 Mins With Hopes & Dreams

In the past,  I have been in the fortunate position to have worked with some of the most amazing wedding suppliers in Suffolk and across the UK, with many of which becoming great friends.  I know that many of my prospective and current clients check out my blog from time to time to see what I’ve been up to, which got me thinking.  What better way to introduce some of my trusted vendor friends to my clients than to give them the spotlight for 5 minutes here on my blog where they could tell us about their business, their inspirations and what makes them tick.  So here you have it, a new series of interviews has been born, I hope you enjoy them.

Today I had the chance to sit down with Lorraine who owns the amazing Hopes & Dreams, a wedding event dressing business in the heart of Suffolk. I had the real pleasure of working alongside Lorraine this year and was floored by her stylish dressing and exquisite attention to detail.

For those readers who may not have come across your work before, please can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into wedding and event styling?

Lorraine:  I'm a trained award-winning designer. Having travelled the world designing global brands working from a boutique studio in central London for 12 years, I decided that I wanted to bring my knowledge and experience back to my homeland, Suffolk! I quickly realised the appreciation for good design was alien to the depths of my county, so I made it my job to educate people in transforming blank canvases into beautiful spaces. I now run a small boutique event studio offering decorative pieces hand-crafted by myself, my vision was to be different, to break through the norm and see beyond. Weddings have allowed this vision to come true, I now have the pleasure of working with countless stunning venues across the region working with my clients to create something unique each time. I absolutely love it!

In three words how would you describe your brand/business?

Lorraine: Unique, designer, quality.

Who or what inspires the creativity in your work?

Lorraine: Inspiration comes from keeping your eyes open! I'm inspired by my surroundings each and every day! From the changing trends in fashion, furniture stores and packaging.

What trends are you currently seeing and how do you predict the future looks for wedding styling here in the UK?

Lorraine: Fashion tend to move in cycles, weddings are no different. The current trend is rustic or vintage, I predict over the next few years the rustic theme will become even more gritty and the supporting colours (whether it be the bridesmaids dress fabric or floral details etc) even more muted and pastel.

How far in advance do you suggest brides come talk to you about their wedding day decor?

Lorraine: As soon as they have a date and venue confirmed, we book up to 2 years in advance! Our diary next year is already limited for peak dates!

Which wedding blogs or magazines do you recommend that couples check out, in order to gain inspiration?

Lorraine: Rock my wedding and Style me pretty are good favourites

What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding decor stylist?

Lorraine: Go along and meet them in person, make sure you feel comfortable that the stylist understands you and what you want. Do your homework, read the recommendations, and if needs be, contact at least one of the people who have recommended them to make sure its a real recommendation! Your day is a big expensive and emotional event you want to make sure it's going to be perfect!

Finally, what's the best thing about being a wedding stylist?

Lorraine: Making peoples dreams come true, the smiles on our couples faces is priceless. But above all design is my absolute passion no matter what the canvas is, I will never tire of it!

My sincere thanks to Lorraine for her time.  If you would like to speak to Lorraine about your forthcoming wedding, please check out her website.
