Grace & Danny's fantastic Suffolk wedding at the stunning Hengrave Hall will always stay with me as a very memorable wedding that reminded me of the true bond between loving families.
If I could sum up the day in one word, for me it would be "Family". There is such a strong, loving bond between both these guys and their families and their strong sense of love shone throughout the day. Especially through the speeches which really left me holding a tear back on many occasion!
The end of a perfect day at Easton Grange Wedding Venue yesterday for Sophie & Sam's wedding saw a sunset of truly fairytale proportions.
It was a real honour to document such a gorgeous wedding amongst a bunch of genuinely lovely, fun people.
n this video I talk all about one of the things I love to do for clients, after they book their wedding photography with me. I talk about making contact with the wedding venue/church straight away, allowing me to create great working relationships and where the diary allows, to attend the ceremony rehearsals.
The Christmas season is always a popular choice for engagements. There's something about cosying up in the warm, when it's cold outside, or maybe being around loved ones that entices couples all over the world to take that next step in their relationships.

In the past, I have been in the fortunate position to have worked with some of the most amazing wedding suppliers in Suffolk and across the UK, with many of which becoming great friends. I know that many of my prospective and current clients check out my blog from time to time to see what I’ve been up to, which got me thinking. What better way to introduce some of my trusted vendor friends to my clients than to give them the spotlight for 5 minutes here on my blog where they could tell us about their business, their inspirations and what makes them tick. So here you have it, a new series of interviews has been born, I hope you enjoy them. Today I had the chance to sit down with the amazing Emily McVeigh from the stunning new wedding venue 'Kenton Hall Estate' in Suffolk, UK.

Ross: For those readers who may not have come across your business before please can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into hosting weddings?
Emily: I run Kenton Hall Estate, a wedding venue and glamping site in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. My background is in hospitality and I have had also had worked as a Personal Assistant. I really enjoyed the organisational side of planning large events so I decided to move back to Suffolk start my own wedding venue and event planning business.
Elm Occasions is the bespoke event planning division of the company. I settled on the name ‘Elm’ for various reasons, it is my initials, but also according to myth; the tree essence energizes the mind and balances the heart, I thought this was apt for a wedding and event planner!
Kenton Hall Estate Weddings and Glamping provides the highest quality service in the most relaxed setting. Our exclusive venue offers only eight events per season creating an entirely individual experience for you and your guests.
Ross: In three words how would you describe your brand/business?
Emily: Weddings, Occasions, Glamping!
Ross: Who or what inspires the creativity in what you do?
Emily: The setting here at Kenton Hall is truly magical, although it sounds cliché, it inspires me every day. It is such a great location for a venue providing a completely relaxed atmosphere, I particularly love seeing the cattle grazing in the fields as you walk down the drive.
When a couple first come to view the venue I like to find out their original vision for their day. I love to creatively think about how to put individual personality into a couple’s day. My job is to marry personalities to the venue to ensure a couple’s vision is realised.
Ross: What trends are you currently seeing and how do you predict the future looks for hosting weddings in the UK?
Emily: There are so many exciting wedding trends at the moment. As a venue there is high demand for a venue with a relaxed setting. Smaller, more intimate weddings are becoming poplar with a larger amount of evening guests invited. Outdoor blessing ceremony areas are also being chosen. Although civil and religious ceremonies cannot take place outdoors in the UK, couples are still opting for blessings. At Kenton Hall Estate we offer a blessing ceremony area in the woodland and formal gardens which is truly romantic.

Ross: How far in advance do you suggest couples come talk to you about their wedding day?
Emily: As the venue, we are usually the starting point for newly engaged couples. Couples usually come to talk to me about a year in advance of their chosen date. However, there is no set wedding planning period and couples shouldn’t be afraid to approach venues with shorter notice. We still have availability for 2013 dates and there is still plenty of time to organise the perfect day.
Ross: Which wedding blogs or magazines do you recommend that couples check out?
Emily: My personal favourite is a wedding blog based in South Africa called ‘The Pretty Blog’. The photography is incredible and the styling of the weddings is fantastic. For UK brides I would recommend ‘Rock my Wedding’. On a more local basis, ‘The Suffolk Wedding Showcase’ is new blog to Suffolk and is one that promotes Suffolk suppliers. This year this blog will grow into a fantastic resource for Suffolk brides so watch this space!
Ross: What advice would you give couples when choosing their wedding venue?
Emily: Choosing your venue is one of the most important parts of planning your big day. I would advise couples to view more than one venue to ensure they make the right decision. How can you know you’ve chosen the right venue until you have seen the wrong venue?!
Finding the perfect setting and location is incredibly important but it is also essential that you have a good rapport with the events manager and team at your venue. Creating a good relationship with them will make your planning and your day completely relaxed.
Ross: Finally, what's the best thing about being a wedding host/venue owner?
Emily: Hosting weddings at a fabulous venue is a dream job for me; many people think my job is very glamorous, it is on the day when everything comes together but for me its about a lot more than the décor on the day!
At its core a wedding is about the union of two people who love each other, and have chosen to pledge their commitment in front of their loved ones. While I love the creative side, the best thing to me is that I get to play a part in creating a once in a lifetime moment, and that my clients have chosen our stunning venue as a location to create these moments.
My thanks to Emily for her time taken to chat with me. If you would like to speak to Emily about Kenton Hall Estate, please visit check out her website at www.kentonhallestate.co.uk You can also follow Emily on Facebook & Twitter.
I was so pleased when I was asked to photograph Stuart & James' Civil Partnership. You may remember that a couple of months before we had such great fun on the beach for their engagement shoot and so I just couldn't wait for the big day to arrive. The guys had chosen the fantastic 'All Manor of Events' in Henley, Suffolk and when the day did arrive, we were greeted by some fantastic weather. Also at this time of year (September) all the trees had started to turn some amazing rich colours which really make for some stunning backdrops. Friends and family had come far and wide to share this special day with the guys and the celebrations went on well into the night with some fantastic dance floor action (which I love to get right in the middle of with my camera!). Such great memories.
I had an amazing time guys, thank you for allowing me to capture such a perfect day, RD
You may remember a couple of months ago I posted Lisa & Daryl's Engagement Shoot down at the Ipswich Waterfront. Well the time certainly flew and before I knew it the big day had finally arrived. The guys had chosen 'All Manor of Events' as their wedding venue. Set in stunning rural grounds, the venue, based at Manor Farm is a really cool venue and where Tanja & I also chose to get married back in 2009. It was a really magnificent day and with the weather on our side, we managed to get a beautiful set of images that really captured the essence of the day. Lisa & Daryl really do have a wonderful set of friends and family and it was clear from listening to the heartfelt sentiments of the speeches that they'll enjoy a long and very happy life together.
It really was a blessing to capture your big day guys, all the very best of wished for your future, RD
