Bespoke Wedding, Event & Party Planning in Suffolk / Inspired Event Management

Inspired Event Management, Suffolk -

In the past,  I have been in the fortunate position to have worked with some of the most amazing wedding suppliers in Suffolk and across the UK, with many of which becoming great friends.  I know that many of my prospective and current clients check out my blog from time to time to see what I’ve been up to, which got me thinking.  What better way to introduce some of my trusted vendor friends to my clients than to give them the spotlight for 5 minutes here on my blog where they could tell us about their business, their inspirations and what makes them tick.  So here you have it, a new series of interviews has been born, I hope you enjoy them. Today I had the chance to sit down with the lovely Jenny Loyd from Inspired Event Management, who are based in Suffolk, UK.

Ross:  For those readers who may not have come across your work before, please can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into event management?

Jenny:  Of course.  I have always been a practical person and studying History or Politics was never really going to be my thing, so after school I studied for a degree in Hotel and Catering Management – a route I often recommend to people who write in to me now.  The course covers a multitude of subjects including Accounts and Business Studies as well as practical cooking and hotel management sessions, and prepares one for a variety of career opportunities.  In fact, I went on to work in Outside Catering in London which I loved.  This then led, when I moved to Suffolk 17 years ago, to my starting up my own business organising a variety of events.  I cannot help but always take a keen interest in the catering arrangements but that is one of the fundamental aspects of an event which can turn it from ordinary to exceptional – or the other way round if the food and service is not of a good standard!

Ross:  In three words how would you describe your brand/business?

Ross:  Who or what inspires the creativity in your work?

Jenny:  It’s really a question of lateral thinking and always, whether one is in work mode, or ‘off duty’, taking an interest in style and interior features in magazines and newspapers, being interested in lighting in restaurants and shops, visiting tradeshows to keep on top of trends and new innovations and ultimately having the confidence to put it all together for the big occasion which can be occasionally nerve-racking when, in most cases, one only has one chance to get it right!

Ross:  What trends are you currently seeing and how do you predict the future looks for styling weddings and events in the UK?

Jenny:  Whilst many brides are looking to have certain contemporary elements to their weddings – I have worked with several brides in the last year or so who have wished to incorporate an old fashioned tea party element into the proceedings when they first arrive back from church.  All generations love that Olde English look of dainty floral cups and saucers, colourful bunting, miniature sandwiches and teacakes –  all rather naughty and indulgent and a step out of everyday life.

Ross:  How far in advance do you suggest wedding couples come talk to you about their event?

Jenny:  As soon as they get engaged!

Ross:  Which wedding blogs or magazines do you recommend that couples check out?
Jenny:  Martha Stewart is always a good source of inspiration, in addition to all the usual bridal magazines that one can pick up in a good newsagent.

Ross:  What advice would you give couples when choosing a wedding or event planner?

Jenny:  Make sure that your planner listens to what you hope to achieve and doesn’t plan just what she wants to see on the big day.  Also, ensure that you and she agree on budgets and that you have ongoing communication on this aspect of the event.  What can start off ‘within budget’ can easily run away with unforeseen extras and additions that you just ‘can’t live without on the day’!

Ross:  Finally, what's the best thing about doing what you do?
Jenny:  Giving pleasure to not just the client but so many of their friends and family too!

My thanks to Jenny for her time taken to chat with me.  If you would like to speak to Jenny about your forthcoming event, please check out her website at  You can also follow Jenny on Facebook & on Twitter.
